This site is here cause I felt like having a website. Sometimes I write blog entries, mostly not. My writing sometime sucks, and sometimes after I write something I change my mind. I'll probably have archives up at some point, but if I really dislike something or it really sucks I might remove it. If you want to email me you can, but there are a few this to be aware of:
- html mail is likely to be marked as spam.
- my mail is filtered, if you message looks spamy I will never see it.
- I get lots of email. Some for work, much from list serves I'm on (much I actually have to read). If I don't reply it isn't anything personal.
My address is, well I'll put it up sometime when I get around to it. I'll set up an alias then or something to try to stop any spam I might get.
I've been on the net with an email address for something like 11 years now (has it really been that long?). I remember going to college and getting an email address. All we had was a telnet connection to check our mail. The server was a hp with a 68k processor in the bowels of Main. Until my Junior year all we had was a 56k line for 2,300 some students plus staff and administration. Gopher was still cool (and there was lots out there for it). I remember when webcams were new, and there were very few. Someone connected one up so that you could pan the camera and it was the coolest thing. It was amazing. Now you can go to Mammoth Mountain and see a live picture that you can pan and zoom with a lot higher quality picture than even imagined. And there are whole sites dedicated to pictures you take with you cellphone. I remember webvan. I remember when Amazon first started. I was in the Bay Area just as the bubble burst, and was still under paid. Then again I was mostly unaffected by it. I remember when lycos was king. babblefish was amazing. MacBSD took all night to download and it was only a few hundred megs. Now I have more bandwidth at home then I had for most of the time I was in college, and a few hundred megs takes minutes. It only takes hours if the site is really slow. I remember being able to take a pocket knife in your pocket on the plane. I remember "Return of the Jedi" being in the theaters. Reagan as president. Christopher Reeve was Superman. When the closest thing to a laptop was a Kaypro II. Cellphones were only in cars, and you couldn't answer then in the movie theaters. Man have things changed, and are they COOL or what!
I'm not quite 30 yet. I just got married (24 days ago when I write this). I've been using virr as an online handle for almost the whole time I've been online. I'm about yeah high. I like to inline skate. There are pictures of my on the net, but you'll have to find them for your self. I found a irc channel once long ago, but now I haven't been on irc in ages. Anymore will have to wait until some other time.
